Michael Thomas

Michael Jay Thomas, 59, of Wheat Ridge, CO, was born in Denver November 1, 1956 during a blizzard and passed away December 15, 2015 during a snowstorm.

Mike and his siblings grew up in the neighborhood area of 23rd and Bryant in Denver and later moved to the neighborhood of 35th and Bryant in 1970. He attended Boulevard elementary, Lake and Skinner Junior high schools and North high school. Mike was in Boy Scout troop 415 with many childhood friends.

Mike loved music and maintained a large collection of records and CD's. He and his friends formed a band called Public Animals he played the drums. He loved going to concerts, driving in the Mountains and an avid Denver Broncos fan.

Mike had several jobs before spending many years working with his CDOT family.

Mike is survived by his brother Steven Thomas, sister Karen (Raymond) Salazar, and nephew Robert M. Thomas and his sons Robert J, Daniel, Jacob, niece Melissa Thomas, niece Shelley (Paul) Daulton her daughters Leticia Salazar, Destany Daulton, niece Laura Salazar and her daughter Wintermoon Pumroy and sister-in-law Yvonne (Fritzi) Thomas. Preceded in death by his parents Robert (Bob) and Roberta, and brother Robert (Bobby) and nephew Robert's wife Erin. Memorial service, Tuesday, 12/22, 11am, at Highlands Lutheran Church, 3995 Irving Street, Denver, CO 80211. In lieu of flowers please donate in Mike's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
