Mike passed peacefully on the afternoon of August 18, 2022 in Denver, Colorado

Mike was born February 18, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to James Edward Maley and Nancy Jane Butler Maley, the third of five children. Mike grew up in Clawson, Michigan and graduated from Clawson High School in 1969. He came to Colorado while working for Holley Carburetor and loved it. In 1974 Mike moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1975, Mike met Carolyn (Cari) while working as a Datsun mechanic and they spent the next 47 years together, 34 of them in Brighton, Colorado

Mike and Cari moved to Denver area in 1984, Mike worked for Drive Train Industries and Chicago Rawhide/SKF before retiring in April 2015

Mike loved race cars and raced his own in Michigan including demolition derby.  Mike and Cari spent many days and nights at racetracks including Daytona, Indianapolis, and Knoxville, Iowa. They also went to many small town racetracks in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and a few other states. In 2017  he was able to fulfill a lifetime dream of going to many races during Speed Weeks in Florida.

Mike played softball for over 25 years for various teams. Mike and Cari loved to camp their whole lives together. The last five winters of his life were spent mostly in Arizona to escape the Colorado cold and snow. Mike also had a passion for playing guitar (he only has 5)  dirt bikes, snow skiing, working on cars and in later years Suzuki Samurias.

Mike is survived by his wife Cari, his sister Linda (Dick) of Davenport, Iowa, his brother Gary (Tammy) of Clarkston, Michigan, his brother Mark of Royal Oak, Michigan and sister-in-law Yvonne, one niece, seven nephews plus six great nieces and five great nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jim.

Mike had many friends and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of life service will be held at The Wild Animal Sanctuary, 2999 Co. Road 53, Keenesburg, Colorado 80643
