Michael Donald Hughes, 49, of Denver, passed away at his home on February 7th 2018.
Michael is preceded in death by his mother Connie R. Nielsen of Nebraska, just recently on July 19. Also, his maternal Grandfather Eldon W.J. Jaspring, also of Nebraska. He is survived by his maternal Grandmother, Mary J. Jaspring, originally of Nebraska, now residing in Oklahoma. He is also survived by his loving sister, Jennifer K. Robertson of Denver. He also leaves his two treasured nephews, Timothy J.M. Bradford of Denver, residing in Kentucky and Joseph T.K. Robertson, also of Denver. He was the proud Great Uncle of Audrey Marie Grace Bradford, of Denver, also residing in Kentucky.
For several years, Michael was a dedicated and intelligent employee of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield as a trainer. As a respected professional in the medical insurance industry, he was well versed in all aspects of medical insurance, sharing and teaching that knowledge which brought great value to the company.
Michael was a gifted singer which was his greatest passion. When any opportunity arose to exhibit that talent, he embraced the moment with abundant enthusiasm. He sang an amazing rendition of Josh Groban's "When You Say You Love Me" at his sister Jennifer's wedding. He also sang a riveting a capella version of the Lord's Prayer at his Grandfather Eldon's funeral. His favorite past time was participation in both the Denver Chorale and the Tampa Bay Gay Men's choir, from which he gathered meaningful and lasting friendships. It has been said that his sense of humor, jokes and sincere hugs which felt like they were meant to last a lifetime, are the most fondly remembered personality traits. Of all of those, the most treasured gift, and legacy he leaves, is his beautiful singing voice. It will echo in our hearts for a lifetime.
In loving memory, a memorial will will be held at a date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please donate to his favoritecharities, the Denver Dumb Friend's League in his and Chico's names, The Denver Chorale, The Tampa Bay Gay Men's Chorus and the Diabetes Foundation.
