Michael Hazelwood

Michael Manuel Hazelwood (AKA:MOOSE), 66 of Denver, CO. Husband to late wife Eretta L . Williams who proceeded him in death in 2015. Father to Tasha Hazelwood-Williams. Father in law to Hasan Willaims, Sr. Step-father to Keshia Williams, Al Williams and Yvonne Williams. Grandfather to Ebonne Hazelwood, Hasan IBN. JR, Hakiem Williams, Hafiz Williams. Step - Grandfather to, Teresa Williams, Aaron Williams, and Cornelius Williams, and Patience Williams. Michael was a beloved uncle and is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives that loved him dearly.

Born and raised in Chicago, IL. Michael was the 3rd oldest child of 6 children and was preceded in death by both parents Lucille Tigner-Henderson and Leroy Hazelwood, Sr. He was brother to the late Leroy Hazelwood, Jr, Shirley Hazelwood, LaShaun Hazelwood, and Beverly Hazelwood all who precede him in death. He has one surviving brother Patrick Hazelwood.

As a young man Michael enlisted into Marines and did a tour of duty in the Vietnam War and came home a decorated war vet. He eventually settled in Denver, CO where he began his career as a counselor. Michael was dedicated to helping war veterans and after receiving a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Social work he worked for the Veterans Department counseling vets with PTSD and substance abuse addictions. He would later continue his education and get his master's degree in Psychology from Metro State University. There he continued to work as an advisor and counselor.

Michael was a strong and determined person who was not afraid to speak his mind. He loved his family and he loved working with others and being able to help them change their lives in positive way. He will be truly missed.

Memorial service will be held Thursday April 13, 2017 at 1100 AM at Horan & Mcconaty, 1091 S Colorado Blvd, Denver CO, 80246
