Michael Jay Hansen, 51 of Aurora, Colorado passed away on July 2, 2017.
Mike was born in Kansas City, Kansas on January 12, 1966 to parents Roger G Hansen & Janice L Blodgett.
Mike's family moved to Aurora, CO in 1970. He attended Eastridge Elementary, Prairie Middle School and graduated from Overland High School in 1984. Mike was very athletic and played Baseball, Football and LaCrosse growing up and throughout his high school years. He participated in Boy Scouts, Outward Bound and enjoyed outdoor activities such as snowboarding, hiking and camping. He was described by his close childhood friends as "the life of the party", because of his outgoing personality and sense of humor.
Mike moved to the Central Coast of California in 1988, where he met his wife Kim, who was a class mate of Mike's cousin. Mike married Kimberly Marie Ashley on July 14, 1996 in San Luis Obispo, CA at The Dallidet Adobe. He and Kim moved back to Aurora, CO in August of 2000, where they bought their first home. Mike & Kim welcomed their only child, a son, Sawyer Daniel Hansen on May 24, 2001. Mike owned his own landscaping and sprinkler company for many years, allowing him to spend a great deal of time with his young son, who he adored. He helped coach his son's baseball team, volunteered at school outings and in the classroom. There was nothing more important to Mike than spending time with his family. He most recently worked for Shea Properties as a Landscape Lead until his passing.
