Mike Addison was born July 20,1937 at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. He died June 12, 2022 in Lone Tree, Colorado.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith Ann Addison; by his children Kathy, Mike and Liz; by his grandchildren Josh, David, Emily, Griffin and Kalliope; by his great grandchildren Ava, Noah and Sky; and by his brother Mark.
About a third of his life, Mike lived in the flat Chicago area. The 2nd third of his life was spent in the humid Houston area, and the final third, in mountainous, low humidity Colorado.
He graduated from Fenger H.S. in Chicago, then earned a BA and MS in Geology from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Most of his career Mike worked in the oil, gas and chemical industries in management positions.
Mike and Judy enjoyed travel in the US, Europe and Africa. Special trips included camping in Kenya on the Masai Mara next to hundreds of animals and flying in a tiny helicopter to 15,000’ so they could look down into the erupting crevasse on top of Mauna Loa Volcano, Hawaii. They also experienced walking on Utah Beach, Normandy, France where Judy’s Dad came ashore at 6:30 a.m. on June 6, 1944.
In retirement Mike researched old family memorabilia, documents, files in old courthouses, old cemeteries, and on the internet. He assembled large data-intensive family histories for both his father’s and mother’s families. He also did a substantial amount of wide-ranging volunteer work for his church and for other churches and ministries in the Denver-metro area.
His ashes are in the columbarium in the Memorial Garden at his church, Cherry Hills Community Church, Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
