Max E. Romero 89, a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2018.
Max Emiliano Romero was born on September 22, 1928 to Jose and Sofia Romero in Magdalena,New Mexico.
He grew up in Santa Fe, and helped his Dad build homes. Max joined the US Army in 1951-1953, and fought in the Korean War.
Upon returning to Santa Fe, Max married Eliza Martinez on May 29, 1954. In 1956 Max & Eliza welcomed their first son, Fred, second son, Chris (deceased) and daughter Gina.
They lived in Santa Fe, then moved to Albuquerque and eventually to Kearns, Utah, where Max worked for Woodruff Printing for 19 years.
In 1990 Max & Eliza moved back to Santa Fe to welcome their 1st grandson. They were blessed with 5 grand-children and 4 great grand-children.
Max is survived by his wife Eliza, son Fred (Caroline) daughter Gina, grand-children Michael, Emiliano, Joaquin, Krista , Amanda , 4 great grand-children, brothers: Ike Romeo (Eleanor), Joe Romero (Lilly), Tony Romero (Lucy), Leroy Romero (Jamie), sisters: Tomacita (Campos), Rose Sanchez (Waldo), Stella Kingsburg (Ernest), Helen (Facundo), Dora Martin (Charles) and many other relatives.
The Romero Family would like to thank Amber Care Hospice, Santa Fe Veteran Administration and Avista for their loving care and support to Max and his family.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at ST. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Thursday May 17, 2018, Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Reception at 12:00 noon Lamy Hall ST. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The Family of Max E. Romero has entrusted the care of their beloved one to Avista Cremation & Burial.
