Mary Ann Mallon

September 5, 1931 — February 18, 2022

Highlands Ranch

On Friday, February 18, 2022, Mary Ann (Wilson) Mallon went home to be with the Lord. She was 90 years old.

Mary Ann was born on September 5,1931 in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1949 and married Robert (Bob) Mallon on November 22, 1950. She and Bob had 3 children, Linda, Carol, and David. From 1951-1970 Mary Ann was a homemaker until her youngest child went to school full-time. Then she began a career with Aurora Public Schools from which she retired in 1993. One of her first responsibilities of her clerk position with the schools was to collect the lunch room money. Years after she retired, students who would see her out and about would greet her, “Hi, Miss Lunch Room Lady. Do you remember me?” She always replied, “Yes, I do!” She never let a student go hungry and many times paid for a student’s lunch if they forgot their lunch money.

Mary Ann’s favorite past times included music, dance, sports and fashion. She earned a letter in high school for her participation in the Girls’ Athletic Association and was selected her senior year as the female athlete of the year. She met Bob, who was the male athlete of the year, when they had their pictures taken for the yearbook. They lived in St. Louis, MO and then Affton, MO until Bob was transferred to Denver, CO in the fall of 1969. Although she always thought of St. Louis as her home, she loved the 53 years she lived in Colorado. Mary Ann used to say about living in Colorado that she thought she had died and gone to heaven because Colorado had a dry climate. She did not miss the Missouri humidity or bugs! She loved designing and making her own clothes and although she didn’t have formal training in fashion design she was a talented seamstress and anything she made always received compliments.

Mary Ann loved her blue Jeep Cherokee, potato chips and Cherry Coke, and all things sweet especially ice cream, but she cherished her family. Nothing in this world made her happier than her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years who passed away on January 7, 2021. She is survived by her three children Linda Wiggs (Skip), Carol Michels (Tony), and David Mallon (Vickie); six grandchildren Christi Garofalo (Mike), Kyle Wiggs (Jenny), Jena Michels (Laura), Kelsie Caprioglio (Joe), Lindsay Mallon, and John Mallon (Nikki); and nine great-grandchildren Joey, Sam, and Nick Garofalo, Andrew, Julia, and Ally Wiggs, and Colt, Callen, and Kinslie Caprioglio.

Arrangements are being taken care of by the Cremation Society of Colorado. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Evangelical Children’s Home (Every Child’s Hope) in St. Louis, MO
