MARY G. HENRY
1954-2017
Mary G. Henry was born August 11, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, and died October 6, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. Daughter of the late Daniel J. and Jane Moran Henry; greatly missed by Daniel J. (Jennifer) Henry, Jr., Lucy Henry Abernathy, J. David (Suzanne) Henry and their families.
From an early age, Mary was concerned about pollution in the Great Lakes. She received a doctorate from Iowa State University and pursued a career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where she was Assistant Regional Director for Ecological Services, Mountain-Prairie Region, prior to her retirement. Mary was passionate about protecting endangered wildlife and bio-reserves in North America. As an early woman environmentalist, she was recently asked to be a scientific advisor for a PBS documentary on Rachel Carson.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 14 at the Capuchin Monastery, 1820 Mt. Elliot St., Detroit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freedom Service Dogs of America freedomservicedogs.org.
