Mary Frances Bohning, formerly a teacher in the Denver Public Schools and for many years a Travel Agent in the Denver area, passed away Friday, November 28 of causes related to pneumonia. Fran, as she was known, was born on May 15, 1925 in Wetumka, Oklahoma, to William and Regina Bohning. Her older brother, Billy, died at the age of 10, in 1930, also of pneumonia. Fran's father was in the oil business and the family moved to Gladewater, Texas, where Fran continued the violin lessons she'd begun as a small child in Wetumka. After high school, she took a degree from Texas Women's College in Denton with an emphasis upon both Social Work and Education. For a number of years she taught in the Odessa, Texas, schools, prior to a move to Colorado, where she and her schoolteacher companion, Betsy Yeates, lived first in Evergreen and subsequently in Denver. Neighbors, including Todd Prescott and Ethan Knighchilde and numerous other friends, including Walter Sedelow and Sally Yeates Sedelow, mourn her passing.
