Mary Elizabeth “Mary Beth” Ahern, age 58, passed away on November 15, 2022, at Porter Hospice in Centennial, CO. Mary Beth was born on December 29, 1963, in Chicago, IL. Mary Beth moved to Colorado to attend Denver University. She later transferred to the University of Colorado Denver and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. After settling down in Denver, Mary Beth worked for almost 25 years at Rocky Mountain Human Services—formerly Denver Options—serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Mary Beth was an avid reader, a talented cook, and a gifted storyteller. She was a world traveler, eagerly sought out new adventures, and adored her beloved dog, Maggie.
Loving daughter of the late Judge John J Ahern, Sr. and the late Jayne Sennett Ahern. Beloved sister of Ellen Ahern, Brian (Patricia) Ahern, and Marjorie (Roger) Thibault. Her siblings John J Ahern, Jr. and Jeanette Ahern predeceased her. Fond aunt of Kate (Rogan Nunn) Ahern, Katrina (Patrick) Ahern-Panizo, Daniel (Tara) Ahern, Michelle (Jac) Lebbs, and Julia, Andrew, David, and Brian Thibault. Her nephew John J Ahern III predeceased her. Mary Beth is survived by many friends and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Dec 3, 2022, from 3:00-5:30 p.m. at The Lone Tree Hub, 8827 Lone Tree Parkway. In honor of Mary Beth’s two passions, the family is encouraging donations to Freedom Service Dogs of America, a nonprofit in Englewood that provides trained assistance dogs for individuals with disabilities.
