Martha Allyne Smith, 98 years young, of Albuquerque, New Mexico went to join her husband Robert Earl Smith and our Lord on March 17, 2018.
Allyne was born in Atoka, Oklahoma to Lucille Allyne (Duncan) Sims and Lawson Sims. She went to high school in Osage, Oklahoma and became involved in 4-H with a poultry project; becoming a member of the judging team at the National 4-H Congress in Chicago. The Oklahoma team was the National Champion and Allyne was the first female ever to be on a winning team. She placed first.
In 1938 Allyne enrolled in Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, and graduated in 1942 with a BA in Home Economics Education.
Allyne married Robert Earl Smith November 20, 1942 in Osage, Oklahoma.
After moving to Albuquerque in 1955 she worked with Bob in their photographic studio until 1963 when she enrolled in the University of New Mexico to obtain a teaching certificate in Elementary Education; retiring in 1979 from teaching children with learning disabilities in the Albuquerque Public School System.
Allyne is preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Lawson Sims, her late husband Robert Earl Smith (April 17, 2002), sister Ruthie Lee (Sims) Chambers and brothers Richard Perry (Dick) Sims and James Lawson (Jim) Sims and oldest daughter Judith Ilene (Smith) DeRouen.
Allyne is survived by her daughters Jan (Smith) DeMaggio, Karen (Smith) Bavouset and her son Michael Smith; five Grandchildren Stan Sanchez, Jeff Sanchez, Richard J. Bavouset, Carol (Arceneaux) Redmond and Robert Martin, nine Great Grandchildren and six Great, Great Grandchildren.
