Martha Medellin

January 26, 1942 — March 13, 2016

Martha Sue Medellin, age 74, passed on to join her Lord and all her loved ones who went before her on Sunday, March 13, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. Martha was born to Jesus (J.R.) Elizalde and Elsie De Leon on January 26, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up in San Antonio and attended Breckenridge High School. She then married and had four children. When she became a single mom she made the decision to make a better life for herself and her children by attending Nursing School at St. Phillips College. She and her kids then moved to Boulder, Colorado on faith and a prayer to start a new life. Martha was a brave soul to do that and was admired by her family and friends for taking that chance. Marty provided for herself and her family by her strong work ethic and was an excellent nurse for more than 30 years in the Boulder and Denver area hospitals and nursing homes. She loved the Rocky Mountains, but always came back to visit her beloved San Antonio usually during Fiesta Week. We, her family, are spurting tears (as she would say) for our loss, but will celebrate her life when we remember all the great times we had with her and will always keep her in our hearts when we think of one of her favorite sayings, watch one of her favorite movies, TV shows, or hear one of her favorite performers. Martha was predeceased by her parents, and her son Robert Medellin, Jr. She is survived by her sister Norma E. Jones of this city and her children, Lynn (Ron) Preeson, Nancy (Robert) Gjoni, and Lillian (Matt) Meyers, all of Denver, Co., as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and her life partner of 24 years Mark Carter.

Services for Martha will be held on March 22nd at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 South Colorado Blvd., Denver, Colorado. There will be a Rosary that starts at 12:30 p.m. and the Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 p.m.
