Marla Freymuth

Marla Lea (Zimmerman) Freymuth passed away October 31st, 2015 after a short battle with Pancreatic cancer.

Marla was born January 13th, 1966 in Denver Colorado to Jordan and Diane Zimmerman.

Marla spent her entire life dedicated to the care of animals. She spent her youth raising horses and dogs with her family. After graduating from Colorado State University with a bachelor degree in Equine science, she worked on a ranch caring for many animals. She then spent the next ten years working for both the Cheyenne Mountain and Denver Zoos where she specialized in the care of both African and Asian elephants.

Marla was involved with several organizations dedicated to the preservation of endangered species.

Marla loved to travel and traveled to Africa twice to observe and appreciate the elephants and other animals in their natural habitat.

Marla was preceded in death by her mother Diane Marie (Rogers) Zimmerman.

Marla is survived by her husband Francis "Frank" F Freymuth, her father M. Jordan Zimmerman, her sister Susan Zimmerman and her brother Dekker Zimmerman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs Colorado. Memorial Contributions in Marla's memory may be made to the Katie Adamson Conservation Fund at http://katieadamsonconservationfund.org/.
