Mark Malsbury

June 7, 1949 — April 15, 2020

Mark Malsbury a.k.a The Rev

His body failed him.  Mark had a miraculous survival from 2 intensive brain surgeries when he was in his 20's before I met him.  How'd he cope with this?  A whole lot of guts and marijuana.  He battled pernicious and aggressive cancer with strength, courage and dignity. How'd he live aside from his illnesses - with joy, humor, and plenty of heart.

My husband Mark gave me bottomless and immeasurable love and I gave the same to him. We shared so many travels - Vietnam/Cambodia, South Africa, a cruise that I forced him to go on that he loved, Machu Pichu etc. etc. We came home from these adventures laden with purchases, memories, and of course his magnificent photos.  We had our outdoor experiences- the kayaking trips to Lake Powell, the bike rides at the Ridge, and the 11 hour hike in the Escalantes where we got hopelessly lost.  I bought and began riding a mountain bike when Mark told me Toto our favorite dog loved going on bike rides.

His love of music was shared with me- The Chicago Blues festival, summer concerts in Albuquerque, and the incomparable and magnificent Jazz Fest in New Orleans we attended with Marcia, Gary and Sarah.

We didn't have human children but did have the 4 legged and hairy kind of children our cats and dogs- Schmutz, Mavis, BB, Bumpy, Dali, Oscar, and Rosie.  Then there was the king of all dogs - Toto who went with us on bike rides, skiing, and hikes and never lagged behind.

Mark's birth family was incredible.  His mother Margret who truly was a saint, brother Charles and his wife Annette with whom we had many wonderful visits in Chicago and Newfoundland, and nephews Wes and Evan and their families and mates.

Mark was unique- kind, caring, funny, fun-loving, irreverent, and loyal.
