Marilyn Kohler

January 26, 1951 — October 30, 2017

All things must pass, a sunrise doesn't last all morning. And, on October 30, 2017, Marilyn Ann Kohler of Denver, Colorado made her way, surrounded by her sons and soulmate.

There are places she remembered all her life, particularly her hometown of Dubuque, Iowa. Marilyn was born on January 26, 1951 and raised by her mother, Ethel Vera Kohler and grandparents Fannie Pearl Kohler (Ma) and William Bernard Kohler (Pa), who preceded her in death.

After high school, she left home for Cedar Falls, Iowa to study at The University of Northern Iowa. After a stint teaching children, she discovered a passion for teaching and training and her peers. Marilyn went on to enjoy a successful career in this with AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Avaya where she quickly gained respect and responsibility, won several industry awards, and created lasting friendships.

Marilyn leaves behind two sons whom she was immensely proud of, Seth (Lindsey) and Ross (Lindsay) as well as three grandchildren, Everett, Zoey, and Jordan.

Of all her friends and lovers, there is no one compared with Charles E. Reeves. The two married on August 15, 1998 and shared a bond and mutual admiration for each other which proved to those around them that love is all you need. It was with Chuck that Marilyn spent her best years doing what she loved most, traveling and exploring the world. Together, they created memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead.

She was the girl with the sun in her eyes. The light Marilyn brought to this world will not soon be forgotten. Though we miss her words of wisdom, she taught us well to let it be.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for Marilyn on November 18, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00pm at Rosemark at Mayfair Park, 833 Jersey Street, Denver, Colorado 80220. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name.
