Our beloved Mother, Marcella Dorothy Hernandez, age 79, a resident of Santa Fe passed away on May 8, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Marcella was born on January 16, 1937 to Pablo F. Griego and Melinda Chavez Griego.
She is survived by her sons, Fernando Hernandez and his children, Apollo and his children, Jeremiah and Marisa, Savannah and her daugher, Shayla, Christina, son, Lucio Hernandez, son Jose Hernandez and his children, Jerome and his children Jerome Jr. and Kim, Dominique and her children, Julian, Vanessa, Diego and Olivia, and Alexandria, daughters, Maria D. Vega and her husband, Jaime Vega, their children, Marcella and husband, Tibo Chavez, Julieta and her children, Michael and Rico, Jaime Jr, Jacqueline and husband, Travis Marien and their children, Elijah and Noah, Melinda and daughter, Jacqueline, daughter, Ana T. Gomez and her husband, Miguel Gomez and children, Robert, Marcos, Gabriella, Misha and Bella, daughter, Christina Hernandez and daughters, Yesenia and Rhiannon. And by her brother, Pablo Griego, sisters, Magdalena Apodaca, (Maida) and Grace Apodaca and our sweetie, Dolores Griego and their families.
Marcella graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1956. Marcella worked for the State Purchasing Department 17 years as a secretary and then retired from. Her love and passion were singing with her brothers in their mariachi group and singing for her grand kids. She also loved to cook great New Mexican favorites like green and red chili enchiladas and baked the best cookies and cakes. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was the strongest woman we knew. Her pride and joy were her many grand and great grand kids who she spent much time imparting her joy and wisdom with.
A public Celebration of Life will be held on, Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 2:00 pm, at the Santa Fe Christian Fellowship, 2860 Cerrillos Rd. Reception will follow the service at same location. We invite family and friends who knew and loved our Mamasita linda.
