Lois Marie Hathaway (Carpenter), 79, died peacefully at home on April 3, 2025. She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Ron, their children Michael (Debby), Dianna (John), Keith (Renee) and Anitra. She is also survived by her brother Charles (Butch) Carpenter, 9 grandchildren, Danny (Tara), Dasia (Matt), Halley, Jeneva, Mary, Annie, Abigail, Amanda and Justin as well as 2 great grandchildren, Wyatt and Lena.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Carl, by her brother Richard Carpenter, her sisters Shirley Heupel, Darlene DeRose and her grandson Jake.
After graduating from Lima High School in LaGrange Indiana in 1964 she worked at Trans-O-Gram, a toy building company. On May 28th, 1965, she married Ronald Hathaway and they began building a life together. She moved to Pensacola, Florida to support Ron’s time in the Navy and start a family. After a brief time in Indiana, the family moved to Colorado where Lois spent most of the rest of her life.
When she wasn’t raising children, nurturing grandchildren or spending time with Ron, she was gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, reading and enjoying the majestic Colorado Rockies. Lois’s courage, perseverance and stoicism in the face of health problems in the last 1 ½ years never wavered. Her faith in Jesus, the love of her family and the thought of seeing those who entered the gates of eternity before gave her peace.
Private Interment ceremony will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
