Lois Buchkowski

Lois J. Buchkowski was born on August 9, 1931 in West Allis, Wisconsin to Joseph and Mary (Schnabel) Schuller. Lois is preceded in death by her husband Herbert J. Buchkowski. She is survived by four children; Lisa Buchkowski, Susan Valdez, Victoria Webster, and Mark Buchkowski, and several grandchildren. Lois passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at her home in Aurora, Colorado.

A Rosary will be held in honor of Lois on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church. There will be a reception directly following the Mass at the church. A private family interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

A letter from Diane:

"Dear Family and Friends of Lisa!

First of all, my name is Diane DeWitt. I'm Lisa's cousin and the godmother of Tiffany. (I can't take any credit as to what a wonderful young lady she has turned out to be; Lisa should be very proud!)

I am writing you all in regards to Lisa's situation with Lois's memorial. Lisa has given much thought as to whom she would like the memorial funds to go. I'm not sure but I think she may have decided to give them to the Food Bank where she has volunteered for the last 15 years. With that being very generous of her, I am writing to you all with another idea. Lisa is in a very unusual financial situation as you all know from facing terminal cancer to taking care of Lois these last seventeen years since Butch died. It was her desire to give Lois the best care she could. And in return, Lisa says that Lois helped her get through these difficult years of her cancer journey. I feel Lisa would benefit and appreciate any financial support we could give her to help pay those astronomical health bills of her own and the expenses taking care of Lois. After surviving many chemo treatments, etc, she has lost some of her catering clients as she just couldn't physically work. So my thought is that we give to Lisa whatever amount of money you may have sent her in memory of Lois through flowers or donations. I told Lisa my idea yesterday and she is okay with it. I think she feels a little humbled to admit it, but she really can use our help.
