Linda L. Philpott of Aurora, Colorado passed away at her home on January 5, 2023. Linda was born on August 17, 1940, in Canton, Ohio to Homer and Mildred Hornung. She was a graduate of Newark (OH) High School and Bowling Green State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. Linda taught music in Westport, CT and Upper Darby, PA before relocating to Chicago, IL and then Denver, CO. She had resided in Aurora since 1971.
Linda is survived by her sisters, Janet (Don) Ferguson, Kettering, OH and Joan Nicolet, Zionsville, IN. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Neal Hornung, and her brother-in-law, Larry Nicolet. Also surviving are 4 nieces, 3 nephews, 11 great nephews and 1 great niece.
Linda was a REALTOR for 45 years, most recently as the Managing Broker at Westwind Realty in Aurora. She was devoted to her clients and to her own professional development, earning designations such as Certified International Property Specialist, Certified Residential Specialist, At Home with Diversity and many more.
During her time as a REALTOR, Linda served as Chair of the Aurora Association of REALTORS and on multiple local and state Boards of Directors, spent many years serving as a Director for the National Association of REALTORS, and served on countless Committees and Presidential Advisory Groups. Her detailed reporting of national events became legendary among her colleagues in Colorado. Linda also received many accolades and awards including Aurora REALTOR of the Year and Colorado Association of REALTORS Distinguished Service Award.
Linda loved to knit, read, sew, play her piano, shop, travel and spend time with her extended family. A celebration of Linda’s life and her contribution to the REALTOR community will be held at the South Metro Denver REALTOR Association, 6436 S. Racine Circle, Centennial, CO 80011 from 2:00-5:00 pm on Friday, January 13, 2023. Memorial contributions can be made to the SMDRA Foundation by check with Linda Philpott on the memo line and mailed to the above address or to the Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts General Support Fund at falconfunded.bgsu.edu/project/19579/donate.
