Linda Jean (Cox) Coleman passed away as a result of a stroke on June 6, 2016.
Linda was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. It was there that she started a life of service to her country as a USAF spouse where in 1967 she married Walter Kenneth Patchett and moved to Germany where she had two children. In 1971 The family moved to Alamogordo, NM where Linda fell in love with the Southwest and added another son to the family. In 1974 the family moved to Minot, ND where she divorced and was remarried to Ulysses Coleman, Jr. They then moved to Hill AFB, Utah in 1979, and back to Germany in 1982 where her twin daughters were born, before finally settling back to her beloved Alamogordo in 1985 where she focused on raising her family and pursuing a degree in social work at New Mexico State University which included a long commute in her daily motherly and academic responsibilities. The professional degree facilitated her dedication to public service of advocating for those who could not advocate for themselves in the local community.
Linda is survived by her brother Leroy Chiovitte of Hermantown, MN, her five children: Monica Lynn Schenk of Meckenheim Germany, Kenneth Jon Patchett of Bend OR, John Michael Patchett of Los Alamos, NM, Kelly Lynn Coleman of Portland, OR , and Kristi Marie Coleman of Klamath Falls, OR, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
