Leyla Teresa Elliott, age 48, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at UNMH in Albuquerque, after a long battle with scleroderma and pulmonary hypertension.
Leyla was born June 9, 1972 in Orange, CA to Michael and Lucinda Elliott, who loved their baby girl. Leyla has an older brother Abe. They lived in CA until 1978, when her family moved to New Mexico because Michael got a job working on the railroad.
Leyla graduated from Raton High School, class of 1990. She loved being in the band all 4 years of high school, and Leyla had wonderful friends. After graduating she went to college in California, living with her Aunt Suzanne and Uncle John, where she studied early childhood development.
After returning to New Mexico, she married, and in 2003 gave birth to a daughter, Ivy Rain Brown, daughter of Leyla and Warren Brown. Ivy was Leyla’s “miracle baby”. Ivy and Leyla loved going to concerts together, and enjoyed adventures travelling to California and other destinations. Ivy always took good care of her mother.
Leyla travelled twice to Finland, hosted by the mobile game company she was working for as an online moderator.
Leyla is preceded in death by her grandparents, Loyal and Nellie Burchfiel, grandmother Patricia Elliott, her Aunt Delia Nell, Uncle Joe, Aunt Dollie, Uncles Sean and Kit, cousins PJ, Derek and Kevin, and Aunt Geneva, stepsister Ceason
