Les Zermuehlen passed away peacefully June 30, 2021 in his home with his wife and daughters
at his side. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 9 at 10am at Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church in Littleton (6322 S Lakeview).
Les was born at home on May 23, 1939 in Two Rivers, WI to Oscar and Elaine on Elm Grove
Farm, the dairy farm that Les’s grandfather purchased in 1859. He attended the one-room
Rangeline School and graduated from Washington High School in 1957. Les attended the
University of Wisconsin in Madison to earn a degree in horticulture. He and cousin Wayne
enlisted in the army and were stationed at Manheim, Germany (1961-1964). After his service he
and his mother moved to Littleton (1965) where Les began his career with the Plant Industry
Division of the Colorado Department of Agriculture where he worked until retirement in 1998.
Les married Trudy Parks on July 18, 1970 in Grand Junction, CO. Les and Trudy moved to their
current home on Jackson Street in 1975 and raised their daughters, Debbie and Connie.
Les and Trudy have been members at Holy Trinity since 1971. Les sang in the choir there from
1975 until his health prevented him in 2019. After retirement Les and Trudy enjoyed traveling,
spending time with their kids and grandkids, their yard and gardens, and time with friends and
extended family. Les regularly spent time on projects with his brother Bob, and enjoyed card
dates with “the cousins”.
Les is survived by loving wife Trudy of almost 51 years, daughters Debbie (Craig) Nelson of
Minnesota and Connie (Chris) of Colorado; grandchildren Jonathan, Clark and Estle Nelson,
Zuri and Zander George; brother Bob (Jackie) Zermuehlen now of Georgia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elaine (Johannes) Zermuehlen.
In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or Holy
Trinity Lutheran Church.
