Lavonne Mason

September 4, 1946 — October 22, 2021

Denver

LaVonne (75) passed to eternity on Friday morning, October 22, 2021. She succumbed to declining kidney and heart function, complicated by pneumonia. She was born September 4, 1946, in Denver, Colorado to Vernon Tamlin and Lillian Wegart Tamlin. LaVonne’s mother, Lillian, later married Walter Orcutt, who raised LaVonne as his own daughter. Both Vernon and Walter have preceded LaVonne in death.

LaVonne graduated with the Sheridan High School class of 1965. Her first marriage was to Jerry Lilly and they had a daughter, Wanda. She later married Richard Mason and had three children together - Rodney, Brian, and Michelle. LaVonne and Richard divorced in 1979 and LaVonne never remarried after that.

LaVonne loved music. Her favorite artist was Elvis. She loved his music the first time she heard him and she promptly bought his first record. Her love of music grew over the years and you could always find her listening to some of her favorites. She also loved to read and travel when she could. She worked for Norgren Industries in Littleton, Colorado for 25 years, until their manufacturing operations were exported. She was fortunate to make some life-long friends from high school and through Norgren. She enjoyed getting together with the “birthday girls” from Norgren to have birthday celebratory lunches. A highlight trip she took was a high school reunion cruise to Alaska in 2008. She was also a long-time member of Bible Study Fellowship. She was a sweet, kind, and caring woman.

LaVonne is survived by her mother, Lillian Head, sister, Sharon (Neil) Petty, brother Glen (Debbie) Orcutt, daughter, Wanda (Scott) Rogers, son, Rodney Mason, daughter, Michelle (Patrick) LaCrue, several nieces and nephews, and grandchildren, Tiana (Joaquin), Kalena, Caitlyn, Tea, and Isaac, and two great-grandsons, Jayzik and Aziel. LaVonne’s son, Brian, died as an infant.
