Lauri Jean (Odom) Edles

Lauri Jean (Odom) Edles, 67, of Englewood, CO, died peacefully at Belleview Suites at DTC, on Thursday, February 3, 2022. She was born on January 24, 1955, in Nashville, TN, to the late Edwin Earl and Toy Mae Odom. She grew up in LaVerne, CA, and then moved to Urbana, IL, when she was in elementary school. She graduated from Urbana High School in 1972.

Lauri attended Southern Methodist University (Class of 1976), where she met her husband Joseph Edles. They wed in 1978. Lauri and Joe spent their early married life in Urbana, where she worked at Cunningham Children’s Home, before they relocated to Denver, CO. Lauri earned her law degree at Denver University Law School.  After law school, she worked for Denver Law firms Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP, and Carpenter & Klatskin, P.C., where she specialized in real estate acquisitions.

Lauri and Joe welcomed with great joy their three children Marita, Catalino, and Cortez and raised their family in Denver before moving to Englewood about a decade ago.

Lauri’s faith was deeply important to her. She converted to the Roman Catholic faith and was a devoted member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic parish and school. She found happiness as a teacher’s aide in St. Vincent de Paul’s kindergarten and early childhood classes.

She loved being outdoors in the beauty of nature, spending time gardening, sunbathing, hiking, cross country skiing, and swimming at the pool or collecting shells on the beach. She also was an avid reader.

In addition to her husband and children, Lauri is survived by her much loved grandson Mateo Lobato and her faithful dog Elsa. She is also survived by her beloved brothers Karop (Marilyn) Bavougian, Ted Odom, and Patrick (Andrea) Odom, as well as her dearest sisters Cathy (Walt) Frear and Sandy (John) Meador, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Father Hilton will celebrate her funeral mass on Thursday, February 10, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2375 E. Arizona Ave., Denver, CO, 80210. Interment will be private.

Joe, Marita, Catalino, and Cortez wish to express their gratitude to the staff at Belleview Suites and Lumicare Hospice for their tender care of Lauri in her final months.
