Laura Adele Nelson

Laura Adele Nelson (56) was born in Williston, ND on December 29, 1968 and relocated to Denver with family in 1970. She entered into eternal rest on March 13, 2025 following a long illness.

Laura was the oldest of three children born to Morris and Susan Nelson (Squyer). She is survived by her stepfather Paul Squyer, her brother Mark Nelson, nephew Micah Nelson and her sister Lisa Petrovich (Walter) and nieces Zetana Boespflug (Jeremy) and Jaidyn Petrovich; and stepmother Carol Nelson and stepsisters Lauren Shimbel (Drouin) and Suzanne Dawe (Ian) and son Ryan. She was preceded in death by her father, Morris W. Nelson.

Graduating UNC with a business degree, Laura began her career with Janus Funds in Denver, and later completed a Masters of Education at CU Denver. Laura loved teaching and enjoyed her positions with Barrington Schools, RI and with Cherry Creek Schools. Her 5th-6th grade students and those in the gifted and talented program sang her praises for her upbeat demeanor and ability to inspire them and present creative ways of learning.

Recently Laura found a calling to provide in home senior care. She was a great conversationalist and had a natural interest in her clients lives and stories.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 11:00am at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Humane Colorado (formerly Dumb Friends League) or the Children's Diabetes Foundation Denver.
