Laura Lu "Sunny" Jacobs, 79, passed peacefully surrounded by family on April 2, 2022. Sunny was born November 2, 1942 and raised in Santa Barbara, California, daughter to William and Kathryn Donarose (Pollard) Jacobs and the youngest of three siblings, Karen and Karel. She graduated Santa Barbara High School and quickly became the darling of United Airlines as a stewardess/flight attendant for over 38 years. Her smile and ability to make others feel welcome was the cornerstone of her career and success in life. She was even featured in a full page spread in "Look" magazine noting her cheerfulness during many chartered flights. She earned her nickname of 'Sunny' daily and constantly had a smile and open arms as she traveled to many countries making beloved friends around the world.
Sunny was married to William Coward and they had one child- Chalice. Sunny raised her family in California (Santa Barbara, Montecito, Ojai) & Colorado (Parker) and will be remembered for her phenomenal nurturing of anything that could grow roots, to say she was a master gardener is an understatement. Sunny had a passion and is known for her stunning gardens which she loved sharing with her grandchild- Bryce. Her intense love of the the beach and ocean was a gift passed onto the family at all levels- surfing, sea shell hunting, abalone diving, bonfires, boating on the 'Fly By', low tide adventures, sunsets, etc. Her toes in sand will be missed.
She had an uncanny way of making the most of situations with quirky humor and a giggle. She carried class in any room and was always willing to lend a hand with any project. Her intense love of outdoors, adventures and creatures was indescribable. Always with a treat for puppies and horses in her many coat pockets. Sunny treasured her time spent at home, surrounded by her family with a good meal and laughter around the table. She loved her adventures riding in parades in Santa Barbara, and camping in Colorado with horses and her dogs- Molly and Lacey. Always on the ready with a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, a pepperoncini, salami and cheese plate, or your favorite chocolates! Sunny was a loving person who saw the good in everyone and a devoted friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Sunny is survived her daughter Chalice Ann Coward and her grandchild: Bryce William Howard.
