LaPriel was born on July 7, 1960 in Santa Fe, NM to Susie and Joe Roybal. LaPriel graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1978, gave birth to her only son, Charles in 1982. She married Arcy Duran on her birthday July 7, 1995. LaPriel worked for the Bureau of Land Management for 13 years as a Procurement Specialist. After the birth of her second child, Miranda, she worked in the Office of the Secretary of State. During that time she also gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Josephine Duran. She was loved by her grandchildren, Charles Jr, Arianna, Alexis, and Amaya. All loved to spend weekends at her house. Her nieces and nephews loved her so much, they often referred to her as their second mom.

LaPriel was a devoted wife and mother who loved her husband and children more than words can describe. LaPriel had a heart of gold, she was the most genuine loving person, and possessed a smile that could brighten up any room. LaPriel was nothing short of miraculous, she was the mother of the year for 35 years, and had a green thumb that family and friends admired.

One of her favorite sayings was:
Where there is faith
There is love
Where there is love
There is peace
Where there is peace
There is God
