Lacorda Bach

LaCorda Ann "Corky" Bach, 73, of Denver, CO, died at 3:43 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, , after a short battle with Cervical Cancer.

She was born September 27, 1938, in Owosso, MI., the second daughter of Harold James Balmer and Clara Augusta McMaster.

LaCorda is survived by her husband Kenneth Lee Bach of Denver, CO and four children, Kimberley K. Johnson Raymond of Lancaster, CA, Kerrie Ann Godfrey, of Indio, CA; Benjamin Harold Godfrey of Denver, CO, and Jennifer Kathleen Starling David of Aurora, CO., Three Stepdaughters, Barbara Hart of Fort Morgan, CO, Donna Tavenner Lisa of Brush, CO and Denise Dulaney of Brush, CO. Seven Grandchildren, Paige Smith Peter of Sonoma, Ca, Cory Johnson of Lancaster, CA, Arielle Maccio of Indio, CA , Ashley Johnson of Lancaster, CA, Ashley Marshall Johnson of Burleson, TX, Harrison Starling and Alexandra Starling of Aurora, CO. Six Step grandchildren; Dorothy Dick Ron, Michelle Winners, Jason Jamie Steffen, Trish Tavenner, Tracy Mike Sosnowski, One great-grandchild, Dasch Smith of Sonoma, CA. eight Step Great Grandchildren Cassidy Dick, Brody Dick, Dallas Tavenner, Ryan Winners, Jake Winners, Matthew Sosnowski, Sydney Sosnowski, Dillon Steffen, Shelby Steffen. LaCorda also is survived by her sister, Janet E. Search of Kalamazoo, MI and one Brother William A. Balmer of Palm Springs, CA. as well as multiple nieces and nephews and cousins.

LaCorda graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1956, attended Western Michigan University; attended various courses in Denver for Real Estate and Appraisal and audited many courses on subjects that interested her. LaCorda was awarded Rookie of the Year when she started in her Real Estate career in 1979 and Realtor of the Year in 1981. In the mid 1980's she joined her husband in launching a successful Real Estate Appraisal business where she continued to work until her passing.

From the time she left college and for the next 21 years prior to entering the work force, she was a wife and homemaker who devoted her life to creating a home and nurturing her children, dividing her time transporting them to chorus, band, gymnastics, talent shows, ballet and horse shows. She worked out a barter of trading cheesecakes for Horse transportation to horse shows due to her excellent baking skills. LaCorda was more than an ordinary homemaker. She insured that her family was exposed to a variety of cultures and traditions by encouraging friendships that allowed us to participate in events like Yom Kippur and German culture through food and art. Vacations included battlefields, museums and sitting on the beach at Cape Cod sketching and then antiquing through the Berkshires. Ferry Rides to Martha's Vineyard and Prince Edward Island; to enjoying bagels at Penn Station in NYC while looking at the store fronts on 5th Avenue. She would diet for weeks the Bridge Mix Diet - all food groups represented so that she could indulge in real NY Cheesecake.

LaCorda valued her friends and family and if you were in her circle you automatically became family. There was never an opportunity missed to include people at her table or holiday celebrations and summer barbeques. Characters with unique perspectives for rousing conversations were always welcomed. LaCorda sang in Sweet Adeline's and enjoyed music of many types. She loved to read and was a member of several book clubs, she was an active member of the SOAR Group at her church Seniors on a Rampage and recently had enjoyed a Wine tasting trip to the mountains with them. She was an active member of Saint Johns Cathedral and often ushered and participated in a wide variety of Church activities. Through the Cathedral LaCorda also indulged her love of teaching by tutoring special needs children from Denver Public Schools in reading.

As a Grandmother she also found time to attend her grandkid's Football, Lacrosse, Choir and Gymnastics meets, she also attended Special Olympics activities for one of her grandchildren encouraging them all in their activities with pride. She was present at the birth of her local grandchildren and she also attended graduations and weddings and was excited to see the next generation blossom.

LaCorda was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, loving mother, doting grandmother, loyal friend, and pet lover.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Rose Medical Center and the Denver Hospice for their kindness and love during her illness. And the St Johns Cathedral Ministry for their commitment to insuring Mom was comforted spiritually in her final days with their daily visits.

From the depth of our hearts we are grateful for the special care that friends and family took in providing love, accommodations, Kleenex, Face Book messages of love and encouragement, Emails with family Photo's from the past, and food to this large brood who had gathered in Denver. We appreciate the love.

Funeral Services will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral; 1350 Washington St., Denver, CO. LaCorda will be interred in All Souls Walk at the Cathedral directly after the Service and will be followed by a Reception in Dagwell Hall.

In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in her name to either the American Cancer Society; Multiple Sclerosis Society; The Denver Dumb Friends League or St Johns Cathedral.
