A mother (or father) should never have to write the obituary for her own son, and it is with a heavy heart that I try to sum up the life of my beautiful, strong, wild boy in a few, short paragraphs.
Kolby Tyler Spring was born here in Aurora, Colorado on December 30, 1995. As an Air Force child, he grew up a military brat, spending time in Alaska before returning to Colorado. Since age two, we knew we were in trouble! He started “snowboarding” off piles of snow in our yard on a small board. As he grew, he developed a love for anything outdoors: fishing, hunting, skate boarding, welding, working on cars and sports. He had a passion for lacrosse during high school and played on several competitive teams, including Gateway, Aurora Raiders and FCA. Later in his short life, Kolby found a love for riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Not only did he love his hobbies, my son loved his family. My son was blessed to find love and marry the love of his life, Bre, on March 30, 2019. He was a loving father to Sophia and Kamden Spring. His Family and Friends were always a priority to him. In fact, earlier on the day he died, he helped me plant my garden and even removed a splinter from my hand. It’s tender moments like this that we will all cherish. He was a wild and free spirit and gave his heart in everything that he did.
How do I do justice to a life cut short? Dear reader, know that this strong willed, wild, loving boy/man/brother/husband/father will be missed beyond any words can describe. His last moments were spent with his wife, and he was on his way (following her), to pick their son up at daycare. A normal family activity disrupted by a tragic moment that none of us saw coming. Kolby, we will miss you every day. We will do our best to raise your children to remember you, in love and laughter. We will allow them to be the wild, free spirit that you were.
