Kevin Mackowick

January 14, 1959 — December 11, 2014

Kevin Mackowick, 55, of Centennial, CO passed away on December 11, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kevin was born January 14, 1959 in Spokane, WA to Jerry Mackowick and the late Patricia Mackowick. He moved with this family to Denver when he was 12 years old. He graduated from Hinkley High School in Aurora, CO in 1977. Kevin was employed at Nestle Purina Pet Care Company for 36 years.

Kevin was a man of strong character, great work ethic, faithful husband, caring father and loyal friend. He loved life. Adrenaline kicked in as he fired up his Harley for a ride. He grabbed every opportunity to slip behind the wheel of his '02 GT Mustang. For Kevin, music was synonymous with Pink Floyd. He took pride in his gun collection, and was always ready to show off his 300 Winchester Mag. He appreciated the outdoors, fishing, camping trips and hunting. He spent a lot of time in his yard; meticulous about its appearance. Christmas brought out the child in him; decorating the tree, stringing outdoor lights and smoking a turkey for the Christmas family dinner. He and Judy were avid Bronco fans. During his illness they were overwhelmed with a surprise visit from Ed McCaffery. Eating pizza, picture taking and an autographed football and official football jersey are valued treasures and memories. Kevin accepted Christ as his Savior when he was seventeen. He relied on his faith and it sustained while fighting the disease.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, son Chase, his father Jerry Mackowick of Des Moines, Iowa; sisters Dorothy (Tom) Ferarri and Liz (Marty) Jones. His mother-in-law, Eleanor Bergeman of Canon City, CO, and brothers and sisters in-law, Jerry (Norma) Bergeman, Peggy (Russ) McDaniel, Patricia (Larry) Van Gorder, Carole (Jim) Zaffino, Barbara (Ed) Cingoranelli, Mary Anne (Mark) Mauler, Bob (Carole) Bergeman, Matt (Debbie) Bergeman and Mike (Cheryl) Bergeman. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews. The family pet, Rupert will certainly miss "Papa."

Services will be held at 10:00 at the Horan McConaty Chapel located at 1091 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver. A reception will follow the services at the Mackowick home, 5687 S. Walden St., Centennial, CO

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kevin's name to the Denver Hospice: 501 S. Cherry St, Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246
