Kevin Lee Krieger of Highlands Ranch, Colorado - 48 years old, passed away on Saturday November 26th, 2016 at his home. His three children, Taylor, Jesse, and Brady survive him, as does his brother Brian Krieger, his mother Cheryl Muzzy, his father David Krieger, his step father James Muzzy, and the many related family members from both Kevin and Carissa's families. We all so valued Kevin who was a great Father, Son, Brother, Nephew and Cousin.
Kevin was born in Denver on September 24th, 1968 to Cheryl and David Krieger. His early years as a child were spent growing up in a family that was active in sports, fishing, camping, and attending local schools. He graduated from Cherry Creek High School. He also attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins where he took liberal arts classes for two years.
Kevin was married for many years to Carissa Dikeou, and he and Carissa had three children. They later divorced, but both supported the children. Their children all grew up in the Highlands Ranch area where they have many friends and led active childhoods. Kevin was a devoted and supportive father. He encouraged his children to study hard as well as being committed to athletics in which they all excelled. The children all still live in the Denver area and survive Kevin. Taylor graduated from Thunder Ridge High School where she was an active participant in gymnastics and dance. Kevin always cheered her on at her events. Following High School, Taylor studied at Colorado Mesa University and is now studying in a Denver nursing program. Jesse graduated from Thunder Ridge High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He then went to college at Nebraska Wesleyan where he played football. He then transferred to Colorado Mesa University. Jesse is currently working for a local Landscaping business. Brady also played football, baseball, and lacrosse while attending Thunder Ridge High School. He is currently also working for a landscaping company. Kevin was very involved in all of his children's activities and supported each of them at every event.
Kevin was an accomplished metal machinist and sales person. He spent many years working in a family business, Flame Spray, and recently he was working for Kendo Inc in Commerce City. He enjoyed his work, and had many of his customers compliment him over the years. He particularly enjoyed his recent co-workers at Kendo, where they worked hard, but also helped each other. Kevin enjoyed learning some Spanish and hanging out with his work buddies.
The family participated in many of the Highlands Ranch community activities and developed friends easily. Over the years Kevin was a strong and weekly participant in many family events including birthdays, family holidays, summer trips during school vacation periods, and even a trip together to Europe. The family spent many get- togethers with the Grandparents, Great Grandmother Irene Kopolovic, their Aunt Debra Page, her husband Mark Harkman, and their cousin Scott Seber. Kevin's younger brother Brian Krieger participated actively also in many of the same sports that Kevin enjoyed. The two brothers were often together cheering LOUDLY and continually during Bronco football games, and also for the Avalanche hockey team. (Referees were never their favorites!) Family camping trips to the Royal Gorge area were a staple of more recent summer vacation trips. Kevin enjoyed the time to get away from his work, do some fishing together with his dad David, and have campfires and dinners together with the families- joining both the Utah based crew and the Highlands Ranch based crew for these memorable summer RV holiday get-togethers. Just recently Brian and Lyn Krieger moved their family back to the Denver area, and Kevin spent this past Thanksgiving with the family at Brian and Lyn's home. He loved the many family recipes, passed down through the generations. He loved the traditions, and the traditional meals.
Recent deaths of his uncle Mark, and his Grandmother Irene weighed heavily on him, along with his own deteriorating health over the past few months, but he still continued to be active in family matters.
We all will miss Kevin tremendously, and hope you will join us in a Celebration of Kevin's Life to be held on Friday December 9th at 2pm at Horan & McConaty funeral home located at 1091 S. Colorado Blvd (Colorado and Mississippi) in Denver, with a reception to follow at that location.
