Kenneth Laurence

Our Dad, Kenneth George Laurence, 78, of Gulfport, Florida, passed away in the afternoon of May 23, 2015 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Lakewood, CO. He was born and raised in Liverpool England on March 3, 1937, he migrated to Montreal, Quebec Canada in the 60's, then to Denver, Colorado in the 70's and eventually found a great place to settle in Gulfport, Florida to spend his retired years. Ken earned an engineering degree from Liverpool Technical College, landing him several jobs along his journey at Rolls Royce, Dominion Engineering, Stone & Webster Engineering and eventually freelancing. Ken always had an affinity to the healing arts and so he turned in his engineering hat and donned a massage therapist hat, and he enjoyed the practices of Buddhism as well; developing qualities of awareness, kindness and wisdom. While in Gulfport, Ken opened the Longhouse in 2004 so patrons could enjoy the health benefits of the practitioner's healing services. Exercise and fitness were always a part of Ken's life; he was as "fit as a fiddle" and as "strong as an ox". Ken was preceded by his parents George and Jessica Laurence, and is survived by his three daughters, Gail, Kimberley and Tamya, his former wife Joan, his brother Donald Laurence and his sister Janet Lansdowne, as well as three nieces, a nephew and seven grandchildren
