Keith Ohlander

August 24, 1967 — June 1, 2022

Aurora

Keith was a gentle soul who wanted to take care of others: from family; & friends; to animals , especially his little black dog Leah; to plants, even  including a Bonzi tree. Sadly, over time along the way he Keith forgot forgot to take care of himself.

After suffering with from health challenges, which medications could not could not cure, Keith died on 1 June 2022. He is survived by his son Scott, and  ex-wife Denise,. He also leaves behind father Corky, & step-mom Gert, as well as brother Ben and step brothers Brian & Kevin. His mother Nancy . He was preceded him in death by his mother Nancy.

Keith graduated from USN Nuclear Power Training but medical issues excluded him from that duty. Honorably discharged, he later enlisted in the Army, achieving the rank of Specialist Four. When Desert Storm broke in 1990, his unit part of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, were deployed to Iraq. He served with the 18th Field Artillery as a Tecfire Coordinator until Iraq was defeated.

Keith & Denise married before Keith left the Army and became parents in 1994 when Scott was born. While completing his Associate’s Degree at Community College of Denver, Keith was hired at Pulte Mortgage LLC in 1997, where he became their Senior Loan Department Analyst.

Knowledgeable in many many subjects, Keith also had a broad creative streak, enjoyed gaming, with superb Dungeon & Dragon skills & game scenarios from pirates to star fleet battles. He thoroughly enjoyed history from Roman times to the modern era present but most especially the Civil War.

Keith thoroughly enjoyed sports.  When Scott was younger, Keith was one of his soccer coaches. Through the years, Keith was often playing on more than one team: he loved sports: baseball, bowling and loved volleyball until his health declined.

Music was aways in Keith’s life: hard Rock to the calm melodies of Celtic Woman. Keith & Scott went to Iron Maiden concerts, traveling as far as Albuquerque and acquiring t-shirts to prove their attendance. Lasting memories were established.

Rock-hounding was another of his weekend pastimes. He wandered the Colorado foothills searching for potentially semi-precious rocks and, minerals. or the occasional gemstone, while hound Little Leah did her own hounding wandered looking for any critters, often following her nose into trouble. By the end of the day, they had good times, pleased to show off  and wore themselves out.

Far from the Rockies, another of Keith’s favorite places was the beach, especially Cape Hatteras off North Caroline, where his ashes will be scattered next year.

Though Keith was a many-faceted man, he shone the brightest as a wonderful Dad to Scott and taking care of his family.

Keith is loved by many & will definitely be missed by many of us for a long time.
