Kathryn (Kitty) Anna Polich, 92, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022, in her home in Littleton, Colorado, lovingly surrounded by her children. She was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania, to Helen (Van Buskirk) and John Flexer.
Kitty graduated from Shillington High School in 1948 and Kutztown State Teachers College in 1952. She loved teaching and traveling and met her husband, Alvin, while teaching at an Air Force base in Newfoundland. After another year of teaching in Japan, Kitty reunited with Al and they were married for 50 years. Kitty lovingly cared for Al in the last years of his life when he developed Alzheimer's disease.
In addition to teaching grade school, Kitty taught Sunday school and started a nursery school. She was involved in Girl Scouts for many years. Kitty and Al lived in and near Peoria, IL; Walnut, CA; Topeka, KS; Kansas City, KS; and retired in Bella Vista, AR. Kitty enjoyed each place where she lived and the people she met. She saw each new place as an adventure to explore and an opportunity to learn. She loved traveling to visit her friends and relatives, showing people the sites where she lived, and taking trips to new places. She was an avid reader. Kitty moved to Littleton, Colorado in 2016 to be with her children. Each year around her birthday they would take a trip together to a different part of the mountains to see the Aspens change colors. She will be remembered for her generous, positive, and optimistic nature.
She is survived by one daughter, Wendy Polich, and two sons, Robert Polich, and David Polich, all of Littleton, Colorado; her brother, Paul Flexer of Lancaster, PA; and her sister, Mary (Flexer) Graczyk of Rehoboth, DE.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her brother, John Flexer; and her parents.
