Karen Quinlan, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on October 15, 2023.
Karen was born on March 9, 1943 and grew up in San Diego. She graduated from California Western University with a degree in elementary school education. After marrying Roy Quinlan in 1966, she settled in Littleton where they raised their children, Megan and Travis. She taught for many years at Mark Twain Elementary and delighted in sharing stories and updates on her former students. Karen earned a master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado. After her retirement from Littleton Public Schools, she began supervising the next generation of incoming teachers through Regis University and Metro State. She enjoyed sewing, and was an avid gardener, traveler, tennis player, golfer, reader, cookie maker, cinnamon roll baker, and life-long learner. She was an active member of a book club with former colleagues, and having fun with those ladies each month was a true joy. She adored her grandchildren, Caroline and Alexander, and their Grams created fun activities for them, made Halloween costumes, and supported their many interests and events.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lois, and her brother, Gary. She is survived by her husband Roy, her children, Megan Sebren and Travis Quinlan, her grandchildren, Caroline and Alexander Sebren, and her sister, Sharon Gaskill.
A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2024 at 3:00 pm in Fellowship Hall at Holly Creek Retirement Community at 5500 East Peakview Avenue in Centennial.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for Karen’s memory and love of students to be honored by supporting students in Littleton Public Schools through the district’s LPS Foundation at lpsfoundation.com.
