Karen Bryan

September 8, 1942 — August 14, 2020

Karen Louise Bryan, 77, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on August 14, 2020. Karen was born in Denver, Colorado to Frank and Nancy Longbottom on September 8th, 1942. Karen graduated from Denver South High School in 1960. Most recently, Karen was a homemaker. She spent a large portion of her career in the optical field, as an optician, as well as an office manager at various medical-related practices. Karen was a member of Mile High Church in Lakewood, as well as a licensed practitioner of the Science of Mind Religious Sciences denomination. Karen was a regular volunteer at the church.

Karen mostly valued spending time with her loving family. Mom and Grammy, as we called her, loved getting together with her children and grandchildren for meals, birthdays, holidays or just for a visit. She is greatly missed. Nobody had a better Mom, Grandma or wife. Karen was a voracious reader, loved watching a good TV show or movie and cuddling with her kitty.

Karen was a breast-cancer survivor. From the moment she was diagnosed to when she finally beat cancer, Karen displayed determination and toughness that made everyone around her stronger and better people. Consistent with her life-long humility, Karen always stressed how blessed she was to have such caring and competent doctors and other health-care providers leading her through the process.

Karen is survived by her husband of nearly 38 years, Daryl Bryan; son and daughter Tony Lucero and Liz Rolen who live in the Denver area; stepson Daren Bryan who lives in Arizona; son-in-law Steve Rolen; daughter-in-law Cherrie Lucero; grandsons Matt Rolen and Tim Lucero; granddaughters Jess and Lisa Lucero; and her cousin Doug Laurie who lives in North Carolina. Karen's sister Norma Laurie preceded her in death.
