June Carroll

June 6, 1926 — May 19, 2018

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, June M. Carroll passed away May 19, 2018, just a few weeks shy of her 92nd birthday. Born June 6, 1926, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Elizabeth Seyton Dietz and Charles Henry Dietz, June moved with her family in 1936 to El Paso, Texas, where she graduated from El Paso High School. While still in high school, June proudly contributed to the war effort by routing troop trains for Southern Pacific Railroad. It was at work shortly after the end of World War II that she met Charles F. Carroll, who first took her job and then stole her heart. They married November 28, 1946, at Trinity Methodist Church in El Paso, Texas. The couple made a home in El Paso where June first became a homemaker and later worked for Carter Tobacco and Candy Company. In 2011, following the death of her husband, June moved to Littleton, Colorado and spent the remaining years of her life with her daughter in Littleton, where she enjoyed her friends and her favorite pastime: searching out the best places to eat the red enchiladas she had learned to love in Texas. An avid seamstress and quilter, June left a legacy of love stitched into the beautiful quilts she made for each of her children and grandchildren. She was working on a quilt for her newest great-grandson when she passed.

June is survived by a daughter, June E. George of Littleton, Colorado, and a son, Charles A. Carroll of Tuscon, Arizona. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Emily J. Gary and William C. Carroll both of Tuscon, Arizona; and Stuart R. George and Travis D. George of Denver, Colorado; by three great grand-children: Evelyn George (7) of Aurora, Colorado, and Thomas Carroll (4) and Edward Carroll (2) of Tuscon, Arizona. June is also survived by beloved nieces Sue Ann Duncan of El Paso, Texas ; Shirley Watson of Queensland, Australia; Jo Ellen Streiber of El Paso, Texas; and Jeri Dietz-Wieland of Houston, Texas, and by nephew David Carroll of El Paso, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 9:30, June 8 2018, at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
