Julius "Hap" Ellsworth, son of Betty & Lawrence Ellsworth was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1944. Hap's family moved around a lot in his early years before settling down in Denver when he was 11 years old. Hap was a Graduate of Jefferson High School & he attended the University of Northern Colorado for 1 year. During the summer between 9th & 10th grade Hap met the love of his life Barbara on a blind date, which was arranged by his brother.
Hap & Barb were married in 1964 & were blessed with 48 happy years of marriage. Hap & Barb lived & raised their sons James & Lawrence in Denver, Colorado where Hap held a few jobs including cook, pipe layer, basement builder, delivered newspapers, worked at a drive-in & as a mechanic at a gas station. Most of these jobs he did while also working for the Colorado Department of Transportation as a bridge inspector, which he did for 33 years. When he retired the first time in 1998 he & Barb moved to Fruita, Colorado. After he retired from CDOT he developed & ran the Bridge Inspection Program for Kirkham Michael for 6 years.
When Hap finally really retired in 2008 he spent his free time hunting, fishing, rock hounding, wood working, playing chess & spending lots of time with his Grandbabies Lawrence Jr., Joshua & Zachary who Hap always claimed were Angels. Hap in his last few years battled hard with illness but his faith in God never waivered & his spirits were always high when he could talk to someone about his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
