Judith I. Schietzelt, 70, of San Diego died on July 4, 2016 after a courageous battle with health issues. She was born in Media, Pennsylvania to Susan and Walter Miller, younger sister to Barbara.
She studied at Atlantic Union College in Massachusetts. Judy met the love of her life, Don, in Maryland when he was serving as a medic in the U.S. Army, and the two were married in 1971. They enjoyed a short time together pastoring in Seventh-day Adventist churches on the Eastern Shore of Maryland before he passed away in 1985. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of their two devoted daughters, Beth and Amy.
Judy spent most of her adult life in San Diego, dedicating her time to family, the Escondido Seventh-day Adventist Church, and her beloved employer, The Ken Blanchard Companies. She worked in a variety of roles there for nearly 30 years.
While she is best remembered for her loving and gentle nature, family, friends, and coworkers also appreciated her sense of humor, love of sports, and adventurous spirit. Judy spent the last several years of her life in Colorado near her youngest daughter Amy, where she made the most of her days, enjoying its great beauty.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 3 p.m. at the Escondido Seventh-day Adventist Church. Memorial gifts may be made to the Worthy Student Fund at the Escondido Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1305 Deodar Road, Escondido, CA 92026.
