Judith Lynn Hughes was born to Don and Peggy (Blanchard) Hughes June 28, 1958 at Ord, Nebraska.
Judy attended grade school at Cotesfield, Nebraska and graduated from North-Loup Scotia High School in 1976. She received her Associates Degree from Southeast Community College in Lincoln. Her career was in computer programming/technology in Lincoln, Nebraska and Kansas City, working at the State of Nebraska, State Farm, Centel and Sprint. She later moved to Denver and worked for her church, St Dominic, in a number of capacities, including as minion to the business manager. Most recently she worked as an assistant manager of Highlands Ace Hardware - a job she adored.
Judy had the biggest heart for her family, friends and especially her nieces and nephews. She was known as "Fun Aunt Judy" and was always there as a great listener and could offer such sound advice straight from her heart. In her big heart, there was always room for any type of animal. She loved her fur babies. Judy had a twinkle in her eyes, a wonderful laugh and lived by the motto "Faith, Family and Friends": Faith giving her meaning and direction to life; family keeping her connected on an emotional level and friends providing acceptance. These are the things that held Judy steady and earned her a full rich life; in turn we have all been enriched by knowing and loving her.
Survivors include her partner Maureen Dobel of Denver, her Mom, Peggy Hughes of Scotia; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Craig and Gigi Hughes of Scotia and Douglas and Victoria Hughes of Lincoln; nieces and nephews; Kelsea Hughes, Cera-Rose Hughes and her fiancé Sam Bennett; Candi Hughes, Casey Hughes and his fiancé Cari Brown, Mandi Shoemaker and her husband, Nick, Heather Fox and her husband, Casey, Matt Hughes and his wife, Teri,Trevor Marlow, Andy Dobel and his wife Trisha, Sarah Staroska and her husband Mark, Susie Leuschen and her husband Brian, Christine Dobel, Casey Dobel, Riley Dobel, Hilary Dobel and her husband Jonathan Ullman and Matthew Dobel; great-nieces and nephews: Brookelyn, Ava, and Charlee Fox, Hudson and Knoxson Hughes, and Luke, Landon and Mason Shoemaker, Michael and Matthew Dobel, Malcolm Staroska, and Caroline Leuschen: very special Aunts and Uncles Bill and Linda Hughes of Omaha and Tom and Eileen of Grand Island and many cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
