Juan Robles, a loving soul and a beloved husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, grandfather, godfather and friend, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of October 14, 2016, after battling with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and went to heaven knowing he was loved.
Juan, 61, was born June 1, 1955, in Apizolaya, Zacatecas, Mexico and grew up on his father’s ranch where he enjoyed spending a lot of time with his grandfather. In 1981, Juan was working at a pharmacy in Durango, Mexico when he met his future wife Annie through family friends while she was visiting. Even though Annie was first apprehensive about him, they quickly were inseparable and lived in Juarez, Mexico for a short time before deciding to move to Santa Fe, NM to be closer to Annie's family. Juan and Annie married in 1984 and welcomed their daughter, Kiki, into the world in 1985, and that is when the real adventure began.
With his love for cooking, Juan began working in the restaurant industry as soon as he moved to Santa Fe and spent almost two decades at Bishop’s Lodge Resort and Spa as a banquet chef. For the past 10 years, Juan worked with great friends as part of the Food and Nutrition Department at Christus St. Vincent Hospital.
Juan was very loyal and dedicated to his family, friends and job, always had a smile, and was ready to help anyone at anytime. He loved watching fútbol especially his favorite team, Los Santos, and was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, which he got much grief for from the rest of the family. Juan will be dearly missed by all that knew him, and especially by the girls he cherished the most: his daughter Kiki and his goddaughter Juliet.
Juan was preceded in death by his mother, Angela Rangel Robles. He is survived by his loved ones: Annie Granillo (wife), Kiki Robles (daughter), Juliet Macias (goddaughter), Rachel Garcia (daughter-in-law), Azdru Granillo (grandson), Jando Granillo (grandson), Edi Granillo (Roland) (sister-in-law), Ivan Macias (nephew), Anselmo Robles (father), Jose Robles (brother), Kina Saldivar (Javier) (sister), Gloria Rodrigues (Macario) (sister), Alfredo Robles (Sanjuana) (brother) and Bubba (his puppy that watched over him).
Special thanks to Dr. Snyder at the Cancer Center and PMS Hospice, especially Dr. Egli, Nurses Judy Henry & Bee, and home health aid Lucy, who helped Juan through his final chapter of life.
