Josephine Young

Josephine B. Young, a longtime resident of Fairfield, Connecticut died on January 5, 2014 in Littleton, Colorado. She was the daughter of Enrico and Filomena Balestrini. Josephine was 90 years old and was predeceased by her husband, Harry F. Young. Josephine was born in Plains, Pennsylvania but spent most of her adult life in Fairfield where she was an active member of the First Church Congregational. She had recently moved to Colorado to be closer to her son and grandchildren.

Josephine worked in banking for many years and was vice president of Home Savings and Loan in Bridgeport when she retired. Since her retirement she enjoyed attending Bible Study Groups and volunteered in the Church Store. Her friends at church and at Parish Court will remember her for her love of gardening, her sense of humor, her kind spirit and her interest in helping her neighbors. She was also an avid fan of the Connecticut Huskies basketball teams.

Her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Gail Young of Conifer, Colorado and her three grandchildren, Brian of Lakewood, CO, Eric of Austin, TX and Carrie of San Francisco, CA, survive Josephine. She is also survived by siblings Mary Schembari of Milford, CT, Ida Fiaschetti of Bedford, VA, Peter Castellani of Nowalk, CT and Lucy Tindall of Jacksonville, FL.

Interment will be at the State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown, Connecticut where her remains will be placed with her husband, Harry F. Young, U.S. Marine Corps.
