Joseph Snyder, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on June 7th at the age of 86. Joseph was born in Delnice, Croatia and immigrated to the United States with his parents as a young boy, entering the US through Ellis Island, New York. He grew up in Roslyn, Washington where his father was a coal miner and owned a small farm. He attended the University of Puget Sound and went on to earn his MD at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He conducted his medical internship at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After receiving his MD, Joseph served his country as a Captain and Assistant Chief of Medicine in the United States Air Force. Upon discharge, he continued his medical studies through Fellowships at the Mayo Foundation and the University of Colorado.
In 1965, Joseph Co-Founded The Denver Cardiology Group, treating thousands of patients throughout the Rocky Mountain area for the following 33 years. He served as the Chief of Cardiology for 20 years at Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, where he was also Director of the Cardiovascular Laboratory. Joseph also served as the President of the Colorado Heart Association and won the Association's Gold Heart Award in 1982.
An avid hiker, skier and golfer, he shared his love of sport and Colorado with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Ann, his three children Joseph, Julia and Susan and three grandchildren, Sophia, Dylan and Scarlett.
