It is said that a person is defined by things they love. This was certainly the case with Joe Scanlan.
Joe loved people. With his career in the liquor store industry, Joe was able to meet a number of people in the Denver area and seemed to know somebody wherever he went! He recently retired from Mayfair Liquors.
He was always at family events and holidays, as his family was a very important part of his life. He is survived by 12 brothers and sisters, over 30 nieces and nephews and many in-laws and grand nieces and nephews.
Joe loved sports. He was a season ticket holder for the Denver Broncos for 18 years! Whenever someone visited Joe, it was likely that there was a sports event on the television or radio. He enjoyed playing baseball, tennis, football and basketball with friends and family members.
Joe loved his bike. He went on a number of Ride The Rockies, and also rode in several other states. It was a rare day when Joe did not take his daily bike ride.
Joe truly loved traveling and the mountains, especially. He never turned down an opportunity to go some with family or friends. Joe Always made it a point to stop at the roadside markers and overlooks whenever traveling. He especially enjoyed fishing, hiking and visiting local restaurants and bars.
He will be missed my many, many people. We are all blessed to have had the chance to have him in our lives.
