John Stuelpnagel

October 18, 1933 — December 20, 2018

Jack Stuelpnagel, the son of Richard (Dick) Maddox Stuelpnagel and Charlotte Blanche Wilson Stuelpnagel of Rapid City, SD, was born in Yankton, SD on October 18, 1933.

He was graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1951 and South Dakota School of Mines in May 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in geological engineering. Jack was a member of the Triangle Fraternity. He enjoyed spelunking and assisted in the discovery of a new cavern in Wind Cave.

Following graduation, Jack served in the US ARMY Corp of Engineering. After discharge from the Army he started a career with Sun Oil Company and later worked for GTS (Geophysical Trade Services). During these years, he traveled all over the world for work which became the basis for many interesting and funny stories. He enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing and skiing. On October 4, 1969, Jack married Patricia Fashing at Montview Presbyterian in Denver. They remained a couple for over 49 years.

Following a career change and graduation from the University Of Denver School Of Law, he practiced law in Denver and eventually served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Public Utilities Commission of the State of Colorado. During this time, Jack and family were very active at Third CRC where he served several terms as an elder. He also served on the school board of Denver Christian Schools for several years.

Upon retirement, Jack and Pat moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. They were very active at New Life CRC and enjoyed their time with the "Go Gang". Jack served on the board of Ute Water. For fun the couple loved to camp, ATV, and explore the surrounding mountains and desert with his family and friends.

Jack was a beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle. He lived life to the fullest, loved country western music, had a great sense of humor, and inspired and touched many others' lives. His overwhelming faith in God gives us great comfort in his loss.

He is survived by wife Patricia Fashing Stuelpnagel of Denver, daughter Juli of Saginaw, Michigan, son Peter of Denver, sisters Mildred (Millie) Eldridge of Washington, Illinois, Charlotte (Chari/Merle) Peterson of Sioux Falls, SD, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Richard Carl Stuelpnagel and parents Dick and Charlotte.

A small memorial service will be held on Saturday Dec 29 at 10:30 am, in the chapel at Clermont Park (2479 S Clermont St., Denver, CO 80222).
