John Monroe Morris passed away January 7, 2019. Although previously divorced, he considered himself a widower and was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva ( White ). He is survived by his son, Chance Ryan, of Houston, Texas, three grandchildren, sister, Jenny Green of Kaufman, Texas, James Morris of Greenville, Texas, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Born to Hubert and Diola ( Overton ) in Garland, Texas, in 1953, John grew up in East Texas where he graduated high school and went on to The University of Texas on a full music scholarship.
John worked primarily in management of various restaurant chains over a thirty-five-year span and enjoyed what he could bring to the atmosphere of any eating establishment. He regaled his family with a variety of tales with great enthusiasm bringing to life countless characters he had along his journey. His top three were The Golden Corral , in McKinney, Tx, The White Spot , in Denver, Co, and Baker's Ribs , in Weatherford, he took extraordinary pride in his work and with his tremendous work ethic he brought the best out in all that worked in his charge.
