John Levi

August 30, 1954 — January 26, 2016

John Joseph Levi passed away January 26, 2016, in Centennial Colorado where he resided with
his family for the past 21 years.
John was born August 30, 1954 in Stevens Point WI, the son of the late Judge James H. and
Eugenia "Genie" Levi. John attended St. Stephen Grade School and graduated from Pacelli
High School in 1973.
On September 23, 1994, John married Carole Knope in Stevens Point.
John had a life-long interest in law enforcement. He graduated from UW-Platteville in 1977
with a degree in criminal justice. Following graduation, he joined the Waukesha County
Sheriff's Department as a deputy sheriff. In 1984, he became a Special Agent with the Federal
Bureau of Investigation (FBI). After serving the FBI for 6 years in Gulfport, MS and San
Francisco, he joined Environet Inc. as an Environmental Insurance Claims Consultant. For the
past 14 years, he worked for GIECO Insurance in the Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
investigating insurance fraud issues in the greater Denver area.
John was blessed with a creative mind. He was known among family and friends for his
entertaining stories, which he frequently embellished to fit the audience. He could play piano
"by ear" and loved to make up jazzy riffs. He was an accomplished sketch artist and
caricaturist. He loved a good party, making people laugh, saving money, fixing things with duct
tape, sitting on the porch reading the newspaper and a good political debate. He loved the
Packers, the Badgers, good Wisconsin cheese and all things Irish. Most of all, John loved God
and his family and was so proud of the way that his children were growing into adulthood.
John is survived by his wife, Carole, daughter Kellen Wen Levi and son Shane Joseph Levi, all
of Centennial; two brothers, Tom (Jude Christensen) Levi, and Jim Levi; three sisters,
Marianne Siebert, Marti (Greg) Sowka and Joan (Greg) Bennett. He is also survived by his
mother-in-law, Lois Knope, sisters-in-law Mary (Mike) Swanson and Anne (Tom) Corcoran,
brother-in-law David Knope and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Michael Patrick.
