John Fisher

July 29, 1950 — September 19, 2015

Our beloved John F. Fisher

John was a loving man with a passion for living. He was happiest around people, talking, teaching, telling jokes or making silly word combinations. Absolutely unpretentious and real, he had the ability to deeply connect with others in all areas of his life.

John had a sincere passion for his work, real estate investing. After attending a workshop from a national real estate "Guru", he then went to work learning the business in the school of Hard Knocks. His persistence and never quit attitude paid off and he began to teach others his "secret sauce". Teaching, mentoring and helping others was his true passion, combined with an amazing patience that allowed others to achieve their full potential. Through John, countless people achieved their dreams of financial independence and thrived in a tough, challenging industry. The John Fisher "Breakfast Club" has become a must attend networking event in the industry. We all looked forward to reading his Real Estate Blog every Friday for the last ten years. His contribution to the Denver Real Estate investment world was monumental and his legacy will continue.

Music was always one of John's passions and will serve as a legacy to his family and friends. He began playing the guitar at age 14, his love of music imprinted on every cell of his body. He had bands in both high school and college, playing the guitar, bass and singing. His rock and roll band, Spoon River Anthology is still a cherished memory. He continued to play his guitar and sing, even 3 days before his death. He was a member of Last Note Singers Acapella Choir for almost twenty years. His voice had a rich depth to it that words will never adequately describe. John's original songs serve as a window to his spirit and soul and will live forever.

John was extremely active, running, biking, skiing, hiking. He participated in RAGBRAI, a 500-mile bicycle ride across Iowa, five times. In the past five years he practiced yoga three to five times a week and stayed active with his wife, Lauren, often hiking in Summit County on the weekends.

John lived life with passion and love. His main goal in life was to make a difference, and it is very obvious that he accomplished this goal. His contributions to the Denver real estate industry, the musical community touched thousands of people, not to mention the impact he made in the lives of his family and friends.

Born on July 29, 1950 in Iowa City, his parents Frank and Jessie Fisher raised him to be the kind, loving and genuine man that we will remember. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in History Education. John married Lauren Kull on July 29, 1997. Lauren and John were building a house in Summit County where they had planned on retiring in the next few years. His daughter, Analisa Fisher (26) graduated from the University of Denver's Hotel Management program and works for the Hyatt in Maui, Hawaii. His stepdaughter Alyse Doperalski (22) graduated from University of Puget Sound with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology and currently is a neuroscience lab technician at Allen Institute in Seattle, Washington.

When he was diagnosed with lung cancer on August 18, 2015 it came as a shock to a man who expected to live as long as his father did (95). John and Lauren had recommitted their lives to God after that diagnosis and he faced his cancer with bravery, courage and faith. He never complained. He was so at peace with God's plan and his unwavering faith until the end is an inspiration to us all.

John peacefully took his last breath in his home on September 19, 2015 He will be deeply missed as a husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, mentor and human being. All that knew him will remember his love and passion for life. He was such a wonderful and beautiful spirit, heaven gained a magnificent man.

His service will be at 11:00 AM at 7110 Colfax in Lakewood.
