John Cumby Jr

John Henry Cumby Jr "Pete", 62, of Rock Falls, Illinois was found deceased in Gilpin County, Colorado on September 13th, 2017.

He was born in Sterling, Illinois to John (Linda) Cumby Sr and Mellie Crowe on September 21, 1954.

He was a graduate of Rock Falls High School Class of 1972. He joined the navy in 1972 and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago, Illinois. He liked traveling and camping. No one was a stranger to him. He is survived by his son John (Marvella) Cumby III, and daughter Rosie (Enrique) Cumby of Lakewood, Colorado; mother Mellie Crowe of Rock Falls, Illinois; stepmother Linda Cumby; brother Steven Cumby, sisters Josie (Dennis) Gaskill, and Pamela (Ed) Davis of Tampico, Illinois, sisters Vickie (Dennis) Huffman of Rock Falls, Illinois and Tammy (Mark) Naftzger of Deland, Florida. He is also survived by four nephews, one niece, ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and one great niece.

He was preceded in death by his wife Cindy Lofton; father John Cumby Sr; stepfather Chauncy Crowe; and sister Macie Thomas.

A memorial service will be at 11am, October 21, 2o17 at First Open Bible Church in Rock Falls, Illinois, with pastor Les Funderberg officiating.
